Welcome to our home "Aan de Berkel".
Those who approach Zutphen can’t help but be
impressed by the site of this beautiful city nestled
along the banks of the Ijssel River.
The striking towers and stately homes, arouse the
curiosity about what lies behind this alluring
skyline.
Our Hanzestad (trade city) has many historical
buildings like churches, towers and stately homes.
You’ll find many gardens and courtyards that were
once tended by weavers, bakers and brewers in days
gone by.
Around the centre you can still find sections of the
old city wall which dates back to the 13th and 14th
century. You’ll be taking a walk through the middle
ages.
So it’s not surprising that Zutphen is host to more
than a hundred thousand visitors per year, both in
winter and summer.
Events, markets, an extensive range of shops,
restaurants and cafés, museums and galleries attract
many people to the region.
